New Acropolis Main Centre hosted a talk on 23rd August exploring the theme “What is Inner Stillness?”.
Far from being mere inaction, relaxation, or emotional detachment, inner stillness was presented as a state of strength, centeredness, and clarity of purpose. Drawing inspiration from Stoic philosophers such as Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Epictetus, the speaker highlighted how stillness allows one to respond rather than react, to remain rooted in virtue amidst life’s challenges, and to find freedom beyond external circumstances.
The speaker urged that if there is a lesson we can take from the Stoic, it to choose the path of Virtue. It will allow us to respond, and offer our best in the most challenging situations. This is for ourselves, and for those that count on us.
“Participants engaged in practical exercises, to have a small practice to be able to respond rather than react to things that pull our attention“
