This book is the beginning of a compilation of lectures given by Professor Jorge Angel Livraga. It is interesting to note the versatility with which he could approach one subject or another. A great scholar of ancient civilizations and their cultural styles, he was nevertheless passionate about the times in which he lived and continually contributed his philosophical vision to alleviate the social, political, moral, economic and many other social ills that beset us. He always knew how to define himself with clarity and sincerity, maintaining his position with firmness without bowing to fashions or more or less influential characters. We hope that this set of talks offer the opportunity not only to read, but to listen to the words and perceive the feelings and knowledge expressed here. It is always the ideas that count, those that, like arrows of Wisdom, can cross time and maintain their full validity in the millennium to come, showing, as befits Philosophy, the most luminous corner of a man’s heart.
