New Acropolis Pune branch marked the Global Day of the Arts on Saturday 21 June 2025 with a special evening dedicated to exploring the rich symbolism of masks through an engaging presentation and hands-on workshop. The event was part of a worldwide celebration by New Acropolis in over 50 countries, honoring the arts as a means of philosophical and cultural expression.
Shraddha Shetty, Branch Manager of New Acropolis Pune, led the evening with a thought-provoking presentation that delved into the symbolism of masks across ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Mesoamerica, and India.
“Drawing from philosophical traditions, she highlighted how masks serve as powerful metaphors for identity, transformation, and self-discovery.”
The presentation was followed by a participatory art workshop, where attendees moulded, shaped, and painted their own clay masks under the guidance of New Acropolis volunteers. The creative session culminated in a sharing circle, where participants reflected on the meaning behind their creations, adding a personal dimension to the artistic exploration.
The event successfully blended art, philosophy, and hands-on learning, inviting participants to discover timeless wisdom through creative expression.
