Members of New Acropolis main centre came together on 23 December to mark Winter Solstice, a time to remember the long dark nights of winter with an evening of contemplation, myth and warmth of fraternity. Philosophers know, that winter marks a time to turn inwards, embrace stillness and use deeper reflection as a necessary balance to the external momentum of modern life.
Winter, teaches us the value of an internal pause before light of the invincible sun slowly returns.
The celebrations featured performances on the myth of Prometheus, exploring the moment in mythology where fire was gifted to humanity. The philosophy behind the myth reflected on fire as both radiating illumination and wisdom, symbolising the spark and the ethical responsibility that comes with it. Using dance movements and dramatisation the participants invited the audience to reflect how this myth is kept vibrant in our own lives today.
The evening concluded with winter-inspired food curated especially for the occasion by members, celebrating seasonal ingredients and earthy flavours that echoed the themes of warmth and nourishment.
