On 15th August 2025 New Acropolis Pune branch hosted a talk “True Freedom – Lessons from Swami Vivekananda” . The talk explored the deeper meaning of freedom through the lens of an Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, author, religious teacher Swami Vivekananda.
The session began by challenging the common understanding of freedom as merely the absence of external constraints.
“The speaker emphasized that true freedom lies in our ability to respond consciously, rather than react instinctively, to life’s circumstances.
Drawing from Vivekananda’s seminal work Jnana Yoga, the talk highlighted that freedom from Maya (illusion)—our thoughts, emotions, and instincts—is the essence of inner liberation. Participants were encouraged to learn to seek self-knowledge and distinguish between their true self and the illusions that cloud it.
A powerful quote shared during the session was:
“Each soul is potentially divine. The goal is to manifest this Divinity within by controlling nature, external and internal…”
The event concluded with a lively Q&A session and a discussion on the Living Philosophy course by New Acropolis, which offers a practical path to self-discovery and inner freedom.
