New Acropolis Main Centre hosted a talk titled “In Search of Meaning” on 10 January 2026. Using Viktor Frankl’s seminal work Man’s Search For Meaning as an exploration on the subject of the human quest for purpose, the speaker explored key concepts such as the idea that human search for meaning is an inherent trait. Using references of Frankl’s life, experiences and idea about Human motivation, the speaker shared how a deliberate search for meaning allows us to find purpose even in the darkest of times.
Drawing parallels with the teachings of the Buddha on the concept of “right tension” the speaker highlighted how absence of meaning can lead to an inner tension that in turn leads to the search, or otherwise could lead to conformity through a herd mentality and an ignorance of not looking at what’s important for us.
Through group activity and discussions, participants shared their reflections on how an active pursuit of meaning as a path to a fulfilling life often gives us the opportunity to deal with hardships in a better way.
The speaker suggested that the study and practice of philosophy can help take us in the direction of a more meaningful and purposeful life.
