Over a century ago, Kahlil Gibran, a poet, painter and philosopher, left us with timeless wisdom through his writings. His emblematic works encourage us to introspect and understand ourselves better. It makes one yearn to rise above materialism and see that maybe the cause of things is beyond that which seems apparent. With these learnings as the prime emphasis, New Acropolis Pune branch hosted a talk on 3rd September, 2023 titled ‘Yearning for Inner Freedom – Insights from Kahlil Gibran’ which focused on his symbolic writings, which are relevant and applicable even in today’s world.
Over 40 participants attended the event where the speaker read few excerpts from Kahlil Gibran’s works such as ‘Madman’, ‘The Prophet’ and poems ‘On giving’, ‘When love beckons You’ and many more. Through the insights from the poems and parables, the speaker touched upon ideas of authenticity, altruism, freedom from one’s own tendencies.
