New Acropolis Pune Branch hosted a talk titled  “Who Am I? – Mystery of a Human Being” on 29 November 2025,  The session led by Shraddha Shetty, Branch Manager of New Acropolis Pune, began by exploring the question “Who am I?”, describing it as a fundamental natural inquiry that arises in every human being.

She presented that  the mystery of the human being can be unraveled through study of our different aspects, mentioning that various cultures and traditions have presented  and understand the human being through different frameworks.  The Indian tradition speaks of a sevenfold constitution of the human being,  while the Greek tradition describes a threefold structure.

Using the Greek model, the speaker explained the threefold, soma (the physical body), psyche (the realm of  thoughts and emotions) and Nous (the indivisible and eternal aspect). The soma and psyche together form the persona,  coming from root meaning “mask”, suggesting that what we see and experience as the visible, is but temporary in nature.

She showcased how many ancient philosophical traditions already understood deeply, the contrast between the temporary and the eternal aspects of the human being. Actively investigating these ideas in daily life through observation and reflection,  can help us in “ living Philosophy” rather than studying it as a mere academic subject.
