New Acropolis Pune Branch hosted a talk titled “Stoics – On Building trust” on 4 October 2025. The speaker shared how everyday life requires implicit amount of trust in everything we do, besides courage which makes us step into the unknown. Sharing a quote by a stoic philosopher Epictetus
“It is difficulties that show what men are. Trusting circumstances and facing them as they come is the mark of one who has trained his mind.”
the speaker shared that our ability to trust is actually our strength and not our weakness as we might sometimes think.
Drawing from wisdom of Stoic philosophers like Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, the speaker examined various ideas on how we can build trust as a by product of virtue. Being honest with ourselves&others, dropping our masks, along with the ability to take a step into the unknown and improving our actions after our mistakes so we learn from them, are few tips she shared.
Attendees also participated in an activity of reflection, noting down a virtue which they could work on in order to create a better version of themselves.
