The ancient Greek Myth of Odysseus from Homer’s Odyssey resonates across centuries with its deep philosophical insights. To explore this, New Acropolis Main centre hosted a talk titled Homer’s Odyssey – A Timeless Voyage of Self-Discovery on September 20 2025 conducted by Yaron Barzilay The National Director of New Acropolis India North.
Sharing the myth the speaker explained how at the heart of the myth is the deeper philosophical parallel to the human condition, virtue and the quest to transform. He shared how the long and perilous journey of the hero Odysseus back home reflects the individual journey, trials and resilience that every individual needs to demonstrate to stay true to one’s purpose.
Sharing, how our desire to return “home” is the journey towards self fulfilment and how our own growth is through the trials we face.
Ending with a reading of the poem Ithaca by C.P. Cavafy, the talk summarized how the myth of Odysseus is a timeless reflection of human perseverance and the internal journey of self discovery and transformation .
